Choosing an electric service provider can be an overwhelming and daunting task. It would be nice if you looked at the cost per kilowatt to determine what you will be paying for your electricity. Unfortunately, there are some other charges that you need to consider seeing a complete look at what you will be paying. We have done some research and will be listing some of the most frequently added charges that you should be considering when you sign up with an electric company.
Are you required to pay a deposit?
No matter how you look at it, paying a deposit is money that you once had that you no longer have. Many electric service providers require a deposit for new electric service to begin. The electric deposit amount should be considered when you measure the affordability of an electric plan. Pogo Energy is not one of those companies, that’s why we don’t charge a deposit for electric service.
Does the electric service provider charge a late payment fee?
Most of us do our best to pay our bills on time. Let’s face it, sometimes we get busy and we forget. That’s when we get stuck with late fees. How much an electric company charges when you are a little late paying your bill matters. If you have a $20 late fee on your bill, that is more money going to the electric company and not being spent on other things you want and need. Pogo doesn’t have any late fees. What we bill is what you use.
Disconnect and reconnect fees
Can you believe that some electric companies charge a disconnect fee when you can’t pay your electric bill? It’s like they don’t understand that money is tight, and if you can’t pay your electric bill, adding a disconnect fee just makes getting the electricity turned back on much harder. Make sure you ask about these types of fees before you sign on with an electric company.
What is a disconnect fee without a reconnection fee? We know a reconnection fee seems redundant when you are charged a disconnect fee, but some companies charge it anyway.
Cancellation fees
When you decide to part ways with your current electric service provider, breaking up can cost you. Some electric companies tack on a cancelation fee. This fee is often subtracted from the initial deposit.
Early termination fees
The cancellation fee is separate from the early termination fee that you end up having to pay if you break your electric service contract early.
Most people today don’t think twice about paying extra fees because we assume they are fees that are universal regardless of the company. Pogo Energy is a different kind of electric company. We don’t like fees, so we do our best only to charge what is necessary. Ready for a different kind of electric service provider? We are ready for you to switch to Pogo.
