Deferred Payment Plan (DPP)

Get a Little Help Paying for Your Electricity

Behind on your balance? A DPP lets you keep the lights on now and pay what you owe a little at a time — automatically, as you recharge.

What Is a DPP?

A deferred payment plan (DPP) is an arrangement between you and Pogo that allows you to pay for outstanding energy costs over time without disconnecting your electric service due to nonpayment. In short:

Power Stays On

A DPP gets your balance above $0.00 so you avoid a disconnect, or it allows you to get reconnected if you’ve been disconnected.

Pay Over Time

What you owe becomes a separate DPP balance that you pay back gradually, not all at once.

It’s Automatic

Repayment happens as part of your normal recharges. No separate bills, no due dates to remember.

How Do I Get a DPP?

We’ll tell you right away if you qualify. We will never set one up without your explicit request.

Online Chat

Open the chat in the bottom right corner of our website and type “DPP” to get started.

Text Message

Text DPP to 24197, or reply “DPP” to your daily balance text to see if you qualify.

Phone

Call 888-764-6669 and select option 4 to request a DPP over the phone.

Note: If you already have a DPP and it exceeds $40, you will need to talk to an agent to see if you qualify for additional assistance. Message and data rates may apply.*

How Do I Repay My DPP Balance?

Just recharge like you normally do. Every time you recharge, 20% of the amount automatically goes toward your DPP balance and the other 80% powers your home.

Want to pay it off faster? You can adjust the repayment percentage by calling 888-764-6669, selecting option 4, then option 2.

When Would I Need a DPP?

If your balance runs low, we’ll warn you by text and/or email before anything happens. Here’s the sequence, and where a DPP can help:

  1. 1

Balance running lowYou get a low-balance alert

When your balance is near or below the disconnect limit, we’ll message you your current balance and usage. Your service is not at risk of disconnect yet.

Reply “DPP” to this message to see if you qualify.

  2. 2

Around 7:00 AM on disconnect dayYou get a risk-of-disconnect alert

If your account qualifies for disconnect due to non-payment (a “DNP”), we’ll tell you the minimum recharge needed and that service is at risk of disconnect at 11 AM that day. Recharge or request a DPP before 11 AM to stay on.

  3. 3

11:00 AM, if balance is still negativeDisconnect request is sent

Pogo sends the disconnect request to your utility (TDU) and messages you your account and DPP balances with the amount needed to reconnect.

  4. 4

After you recharge or get a DPPPower back on within 2 hours

Once your balance is above $0.00, the utility has 2 hours to turn your power back on, 24/7. (Pogo does not control this window, and it doesn’t apply to outages from weather or other causes.)

Good to Know

Does my power have to be on to get a DPP?

No. You can request a DPP anytime, it does not matter if your power is on or off. The purpose of a DPP is to get your account balance over $0.00 to avoid a disconnect or get reconnected.

Can I get another DPP if I’m still paying on one?

Ask us! Request one through the online chat (type “DPP”), text DPP to 24197, or call 888-764-6669 and select option 4 to find out if you qualify.

What’s a switch hold?

While you have a DPP, a switch hold is automatically placed on your account. It prevents you from switching electric providers while you have an outstanding balance with Pogo. Once your DPP is paid back in full, the switch hold is removed. Learn more about switch hold removal.
