Apply for the Texas Rent Relief Program to keep your power on.

When rent is due or you need to pay your electric company so your power remain on but the funds to pay these bills are not available, there is now help. You can get the assistance you need to keep your lights on through the Texas Rent Relief Program. What can I get help with?

  1. Answer a few quick questions at TexasRentRelief.com to check if you qualify (it’s really quick and easy to see if you qualify, we promise!).

  2. Complete the online application (be sure to request 3 months of current and future electricity assistance!).

If you need help or are unable to access the online application, don’t hesitate to reach out and speak with a Pogo Care Specialist. We are ready to help you so you can get some relief and keep your lights on.

Who qualifies for the program?

You must meet all of the following requirements to be qualified for the Texas Rent Relief Program and receive help paying for your electricity:

  • Your primary residence must be the rental property and be located in Texas.

  • The collective household income needs to be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income. (answer a couple of questions to see if your household income meets the Texas Rent Relief program requirements).

  • Without assistance you will be evicted and run the risk of becoming homeless and/or living in an environment that is unsafe, unsanitary.

  • You are currently experiencing financial hardship. Financial hardship is demonstrated by receiving unemployment benefits, your employer reduces the hours you are scheduled to work, you are unable to work, have high medical bills you are unable to pay, as well as other extenuating circumstances.

  • Finally, you can not receive rental assistance or help paying your utilities/electricity while you are receiving assistance through the Texas Rent Relief Program.

Don’t worry if you don’t qualify for the Texas Rent Relief Program, Pogo still has your back. Eligible Pogo customers are pre-approved for a Deferred Payment Plan (DPP), just reply “DPP” to your daily usage texts, or chat “DPP”.

Who doesn't qualify?

  • You already receive tenant-based voucher assistance (i.e. Housing Choice Voucher)

  • If you live in project-based Section 8 housing.

  • You are in public housing.

If any of these apply to you, you can not receive assistance to pay for your electric through this program. As an alternative you may submit an interim income recertification with your Public Housing Agency (PHA) or property manager.
